Wars everywhere…
We are living in some very uncertain times. One of the advantages of getting older or having history as one of my friends puts it, is that there is so much in the past to compare with today. In my lifetime there have always been wars or the hint of a war somewhere in the world but today there seems to be wars in many places with a new one starting before the first one has concluded.
Unless we have served in a combat zone in some capacity, we cannot imagine the total devastation that takes place. We watch pictures of bombed buildings and houses with smoke billowing out of the shell that remains and we think how terrible that is. Too often we do not go deep enough into the scene to see the lives of those whose homes have just been blown to bits and everything in their lives destroyed. While they have no place to call home all the things that people hold as precious memories such as pictures of children and grandchildren are also gone and cannot be replaced.
Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
These are the words of Jesus and that is the only consolation during times like these for those who are involved either physically or emotionally with the conflicts. Jesus knows and that means that God knows also since Jesus and God the Father are one. It is also reassuring to know that nothing happens without God's hand being upon it. God has a plan that was laid from before the foundations of the earth and that plan is revealed through the words and teachings of Jesus and those who God selected to write the scripture. Why is it so important to know that God knows what is happening? Because God loves us and Christ died for our sin so that we can have a personal relationship with God because our sin has been paid for. God will do everything to keep those who are as precious to Him within His plan and not allow the enemy to snatch them away. Take heart… Jesus knows all about it!
