Where to start…
We live in a very amazing time despite all the wickedness we see. I remember the day when the policeman on the beat had to find a police call box, which was three houses from where I grew up, to report in. During that time there was a cartoon in the newspaper titled “Dick Tracy,” and it was about a policeman who had some very cool gadgets for that time. One of the things that I remember was his innovative “wrist radio.” He could call into headquarters from anywhere and get an immediate response. Several who followed the cartoon strip commented that one day we will see something like that. Today we have them with cell phone technology and even more.
When I first began teaching and preaching the Word of God my study consisted of a desk, a bookshelf with a few books on it, a Remington typewriter, and lots of white-out. Today, as I am writing this, I have a desk, many bookshelves filled with books, a laptop computer, three monitors, and a printer. I do not have “white-out” in my possession anymore. What a blessing! When I commute from my home to the church I can listen to the Bible being read or music in my vehicle as I choose. And it seems like almost every day something new appears on the market. Just when you get comfortable with things, new things are offered. Where do you start?
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
The place to start is putting God and His kingdom in first place over all other things. The question that is surely asked is how to do that? Put serving God first in your thoughts and in your heart and that will control your actions. When you seek God's will as to how to put Him first, He will certainly direct you in the things that should be a part of your life and what things need to be eliminated. You still have a free-will and can choose to seek Him or to seek self-satisfaction which makes voluntarily choosing God over all other things so precious to God. The ability to serve Him as He leads will be “added unto you” as you need it. It all starts with putting God and His Word in first place in every area of your life. Let Him know your desire because He is just waiting on you to come to Him.
